Yael Shavitt is an Israeli born actress, currently based in New York.
Yael has performed at the Public Theater with Obie Award winners 600 HIGHWAYMEN in The Record, and understudied (& performed) the title role in Yentl with Beautiful Soup Theater.
She’s played lead roles in the indie features Delenda and Calvary! Parade!, the web series Plan B, and the shorts White Lies and There She Hung (Big Apple Film Festival).
Yael is the creator and lead actress of the web series Split, a show about two possible paths that one life might take. splitthewebseries.com
She is a Founding Member of the theater collective Asylos. Yael co-created and performed in Asylos’ Crystal Jukebox Hymn (created from texts by Bob Dylan) and the immersive piece Out of the Ash (devised from Sylvia Plath texts).
Before moving to New York, Yael served in the Intelligence Corps of the IDF and co-created the documentary feature film iF YOU PULL NORTH (Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival).
Yael is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) and the Thelma Yellin School of the Arts (Israel), with additional training from AMAW, MN Acting Studio and UCB.
